The Thing About Fear…

“Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn.” ~ Marianne Williamson

Did you know that people are only born with two fears?  Those two fears are the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling.   Any other fears you have were taught to you by your experiences.

So I ask you as I ask myself, are your fears rational?  Do they make sense?  Are they preventing you from accomplishing great things?  Are your fears stopping you from building a phenomenal brand and living your best life?

I have some fears that I need to work on.  For example, I really don’t like clowns.  I won’t cause a scene if I see one but I will certainly start to move in the opposite direction.  However, I have overcome other fears.  For instance, I was scared to start this blog.  That’s right.  I thought about it so much, that I convinced myself that I should not blog.  I told myself that it was a waste of time, and that I would be creating more work for myself.  But you know what?  I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve spent working on this blog.  I like thinking about topics and coming up with posts that my readers will enjoy.   Most importantly, I learned by taking a leap of faith that there was nothing to be afraid of.

So, do you have any fears that you are working on overcoming?  Do you have any fears that you know are irrational?  Does anyone you know?  I’ve got a lot more work to do in overcoming other fears but baby steps are the name of the game!  What will be your first baby step?

(Thank you to Ms. Isis, the best massage therapist on the East Coast, for giving me the idea for this blog post.)

  1. Wow! I have a fear of clowns as well! Crazy!

Also, I have a fear of success. But I am working on getting over that.
