I recently read an article on Forbes.com entitled, “How to Think Like Steve Jobs“. Written by Carmine Gallo, the article talks about all the different experiences Steve Jobs has had that influence how he thinks today. From calligraphy classes, to ashrams in India, Steve Jobs uses anything and everything as inspiration.
So how does this relate to you building your personal brand? Well, you may already know what you want to do, and have a pretty good idea on how you are going to get there. Trying something new brings ideas and innovations to your preexisting brand, as well as provides you with ideas to pick up momentum. The last thing a growing brand wants to do is get stuck in a rut. After reading this article about Steve Jobs, I immediately thought of three things that everyone should do to stay up to date and in touch with their creative juices.
- Keep reading. Your brain is a muscle and must be exercised. Reading allows you to learn almost anything.
- Take a walk in a different direction. People are naturally habitual. There have been plenty of times where I’ve decided to take a different route to work or school and found a new place that got my creative juices flowing. Try a new route or routine.
- Say hello to someone new. This can be as simple as saying good morning or starting small talk in an elevator. You never know where you can make a new friend or find a new contact!
Do you have anything that you think should be added to this list? Have you done anything new lately? Tell me about it!
